Mr. Molina opened the
meeting by stating that this meeting is a workshop for the Board to hear a
presentation on a new Access Control System. This is the first of several
proposals and presentations that will be brought to the Board for consideration.
The floor was then turned
over to Bill Scherer, Area Manager for Wackenhut who took a few minutes to
explain why the community needs to update its Access Control System. Some of
points he brought out included: that our present system is a DOS system and will
not run on newer computers; that the amount of data that is being collected
could not compare with newer programs; and finally that there is no way to add
additional functions to the present system.
The floor was then turned
over to Mr. David Winkler from Safehouse Systems how passed out materials to the
Board and then went ahead and explained briefly the features of his system and
what it can do for the safety of the community. He also explained that the
system can be installed in phases both to keep the cost down and also to allow
residents to get used to small parts of the system at a time. He also addressed
some of the reports that can be generated from the system and how these can aid
the community. Finally, he addressed some of the future technology that will be
available including license plate recognition and exit control so that the
community can keep better track of guest’s comings and goings.
After Mr. Winkler finished
his presentation he addressed questions from both the Board and the audience
ranging from what the system would be like in the future to technical issues.
Mr. Molina stated that the
Board is not ready at this time to talk about costs until Management obtains
more information. Mr. Brawer was instructed to get other vendors to come and
make presentations to the Board.
The meeting was adjourned
at 9:30pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Louis Brawer
